Hua Hin was never really on my list of cities in Thailand that I wanted to see. But when I travelled from Kanchanaburi to Koh Tao, I decided to have a pitstop in Hua Hin (I spend less than 24 hours here).
It is a city in the middle of Thailand and is located by the Gulf of Thailand. It is also one of the most popular beach towns in Thailand. Apparently even the Thai Royal family has a place there.
Hua Hin stond niet op mijn lijstje van Thaise steden die ik wilde bezoeken. Maar toen ik van Kanchanaburi naar Koh Tao reisde, besloot ik een pitstop in Hua Hin te doen (ik was hier minder dan 24 uur).
Het is een stad in het midden van Thailand en ligt aan de Golf van Thailand. Het is ook een van de meeste populaire strandplaatsen. De Thaise Koninklijke familie heeft er zelfs een verblijf.
SIGHTS/ ZIEN
– Hua Hin Trainstation
The trainstation in Hua Hin is a must visit. It is one of the oldest trainstations in Thailand and the royal waiting room is very pretty (the outside!).
Het treinstation in Hua Hin is een van de bezienswaardigheden in de stad. Dit is een van de oudste treinstations in Thailand, en de koninklijke wachtruimte is erg mooi (de buitenkant!).
– Hua Hin Beach
Like I said before, Hua Hin is a beachtown, and there is a long and wide beach. When you walk to the beach, you see a lot of souvenir and food stalls first. There are also a lot of ‘famous hotel chains’ that have hostels near the beach. On the beach are locals with horses.
Sadly when I was in there, it started to rain, so I have not been able to lay on the beach or swin in the sea.
Zoals ik al eerder zei is Hua Hin een badplaats, en het heeft een lang en breed strand. Als je naar het strand loopt, kom je eerst veel souvenir en eettentjes tegen. Er zijn ook veel ‘bekende hotel ketens’ die hostels langs het strand hebben gebouwd. Op het strand vind je veel mensen met paarden.
Helaas regende het toen ik er was, dus ik heb niet op het strand gelegen en niet gezwommen.
FOOD/ ETEN
People in my hostel mentioned that there was a night market, so I decided to eat there. The market was very busy; with western tourists and Thai tourists. Most restaurants served seafood, and there were also a lot of foodstalls.
Iemand in het hostel vertelde dat er een night market was, dus ik besloot ‘s avonds op de night market te gaan eten. De markt was erg druk; met zowel westerse als Thaise toeristen. De meeste restaurants serveerden vis, maar er waren ook veel food stalletjes.
HOSTEL/ SLAPEN
Chanchala cafe and hostel
I slept one night in Hua Hin, in Chanchala cafe and hostel. It had several floors with dorms. My dorm was for 8 people and very spacious, but the bathroom was not that big. Each bed had its personal curtains, so you could have some privacy. The cafe looked great and the staff was friendly. This hostel was pretty close to a ATM, supermarket and the night market. Also, you could walk to the beach and the famous trainstation, both are about a 10-20 minute walk away.
Tijdens mijn nacht in Hua Hin sliep ik in het Chanchala cafe en hostel. Het had diverse verdiepingen. Mijn dorm was voor acht personen en was erg ruim, de badkamer daarentegen was niet heel groot. Elk bed had kleine gordijntjes, zodat je wat privacy had. The cafe zag er goed uit en het personeel was vriendelijk. Dit hotel ligt dichtbij een ATM, een supermarkt en de night market.
Ook kun je vanaf dit hostel lopen naar het strand of naar het bekende treinstation, beide zijn ongeveer een kwartiertje lopen.
